We store NONE of your personal data or teeth photos on our servers. All your progress photos, journal entries, and mascot data are stored locally on your device only. When you delete the app, all your data is permanently removed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an account?
No! Smiley does not require any account creation. There are no usernames, passwords, or login credentials. Simply download and start your dental health journey with your mascot buddy.
How do I delete my data?
Since there are no accounts and all data is stored locally on your device:
- Simply delete the app from your device
- This will permanently remove all progress photos, journal entries, mascot data, and achievements
- No data remains on any servers (because we don't store it there in the first place)
How do I cancel my subscription?
To manage or cancel your Pro subscription:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap "Subscriptions"
- Select "Smiley: Teeth Health Buddy"
- Tap "Cancel Subscription"
You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
How does the mascot health system work?
Your mascot buddy's health reflects your dental care routine:
- Complete daily tasks (brush, rinse, floss) to feed your mascot
- Your mascot gains health points when you complete tasks
- Maintain streaks for bonus health boosts (7-day streak = +20 health)
- Missing days causes your mascot's health to decay
- The healthier your mascot, the happier they appear!
How does photo analysis work?
When you take a progress photo:
- The photo is sent to Google's Gemini API for AI analysis
- You receive a score, whiteness level, and health assessment
- Photos are NOT stored on our servers, only on your device
- Track your progress over time in the Journal tab
- Note: This is NOT a medical diagnosis - always consult a dentist for professional care
Is my photo data secure?
Yes! Your photos are:
- Processed securely using encrypted connections
- Never stored on our servers
- Only temporarily processed by Google Gemini API for analysis
- Immediately discarded after analysis
- Stored only on your device locally
How do achievements work?
Earn achievements by completing various milestones:
- Streak achievements: Week Warrior (7 days), Month Champion (30 days)
- Health achievements: Century Club (100 health), Health Master (Excellent tier)
- Photo achievements: Selfie Starter (first photo), Photo Pro (5 photos)
- Task achievements: Perfect Week, Task Master (50 tasks)
- Special achievements: Early Bird, Night Owl, Score Champion
Why doesn't the timer work for tasks?
The interactive timer feature helps you complete tasks properly:
- Tap any task button to start the timer
- Brush: 2 minutes, Floss: 1 minute, Rinse: 30 seconds
- Your mascot appears in the center with encouragement
- You can finish early or let it complete automatically
- Task is marked complete when timer finishes
Can I customize my mascot?
Yes! You can name your mascot during onboarding. The mascot's appearance changes based on health level:
- Poor (0-25): Ultra sad 😢
- Okay (26-50): Sad 😐
- Good (51-75): Smiling 😊
- Excellent (76-100): Ultra smiling with sparkles 🌟
What happens if I miss a day?
Missing days affects your mascot:
- Your mascot's health will decay (-15 per day missed)
- Your streak will reset to 0
- The mascot will show sad expressions
- Don't worry - you can always get back on track!
How do I add journal entries?
You can add entries two ways:
- Tap the camera icon in the top-right of the Home screen
- Or tap "Add Entry" in the Journal tab
- Take/upload a photo of your teeth
- Wait for AI analysis (2 seconds)
- Review your score and save the entry
